J. Michael Cole is a Taipei-based policy analyst and journalist. He was formerly a senior advisor on Countering Foreign Authoritarian Influence at the International Republican Institute. From 2014-2016, he was an employee of the Thinking Taiwan Foundation, a think tank founded by Tsai Ing-wen, the now-former president of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Prior to relocating to Taiwan in 2005, he was an intelligence officer with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service in Ottawa. His latest book,
