Shen Lu is a contributing writer at The Wire China. Previously, she was a ChinaFile Research Fellow in New York. Her writing has appeared in ChinaFile, the Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times, and The South China Morning Post, among other publications. Originally from Hangzhou, China, Shen Lu holds a B.A. in Journalism and Art from The University of Iowa and a M.S. in Business Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. In 2018, she received a Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing Best in Business Award for a story about female truck drivers. Her 2014 investigative piece on the University of Iowa’s institutional failure of integrating Chinese students into campus life won a Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award.
