China is on track for another record-setting trade surplus this year, thanks to the still-surging value of its exports. But the most recent data show just how reliant that surge has become on record-high prices — not volumes — for a few of its hi-tech product shipments.
China’s trade surplus this year had reached $800 billion by the end of August, putting it on track to beat last year’s record of over $1 trillion.
